Lebo Matee
Lebogang Matee, born and bread in springs and a member at Kwa-Thema Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She sings alto for the hymns ensemble. Her love for music was enhanced when she joined UJ choir from 2011-2014 under the care and mentorship of Rennette Bouwer. She joined the Hymns Ensemble in 2018 and is enthusiastic about enhancing and growing her vocal cords while she grows and keeps learning with the Hymns Ensemble..

Tshepi Motea
Originally from Gauteng and raised in Standerton, Mpumalanga, Tshepiso Katlego Motea discovered her passion for music within the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, encouraged by her musically gifted family. Known for her lively and engaging personality, she grew up inspired by her late mother and relatives, who instilled a deep love of music from an early age.
An accomplished alto singer, Tshepiso has been recognized for her musicality from a young age. She joined the University of Johannesburg Choir under the direction of Renette Bouwer and continues to share her voice in various church music groups.
With a profound devotion to her faith, Tshepiso views music as a ministry, using her voice to bring others closer to God. Married and surrounded by a family who shares her passion, she finds joy in singing as a way to serve and uplift.

Thabi Vilakazi
Born in the East of Johannesburg to a musically gifted family, Thabile Vilakazi’s passion for music began early with formal training in classical piano, which expanded her musical perspective. Since joining The Hymns Ensemble in 2021, she has sung both first and second soprano, while actively working to broaden her vocal range.
Her love for God and the gospel fuels her dedication to continuous growth as a musician, striving to inspire others through her musical journey.

Silindile Makoe
Being raised in a family that loves music, Slindile Makoe developed a great love for the craft, Born in Durban and raised in The East of Johannesburg.
She started mostly singing at church, school choirs as well as musicals, She joined the Hymns Ensemble in Early 2014, and sings Alto and Soprano for the group.
She's married and has one Beautiful daughter,an aspiring musician named Boiketlo.

Kgotso Thipe
Kgotso Thipe born in Springs is a member of the Kwa-Thema Seventh-Day Adventist church and sings bass for the Hymns Ensembles. His love for music that brings people closer to Christ, has seen him also singing for groups such as Eternal 4 and Shine singers.
He looks forward to the second coming of Christ as this would mark the end of all sorrows and pains of this world. I hope that whilst you listen to the words and melodies of the songs you will be encouraged and that your love for Christ will grow much deeper. Enjoy!

Tebogo Makoe
A colourful character (never a dull moment when he is around), born and raised in Kwa-Thema, Springs, Tebogo Makoe has always been passionate about Acappella gospel music.
From a tender and innocent age he started off singing alto and as the voice matured found himself nestled comfortably as a baritone that occasionally ventures into tenor and bass…
He remains grateful for the musical journey he has experienced through the local church choir and quartet music.
Being part of The Hymns Ensemble has been a great learning and humbling experience.

James Methuselah Mjoli
Methuselah Mjoli (otherwise known as James), was born and bred in Springs, began his musical journey at the age of 19.
He is very passionate about music and the joy and fulfillment it brings.
He is the music director of the ensemble and is one of the founding members of the Hymns Ensemble.
